Hand Sanitizer

The first example of public health for our group is this hand sanitizer, located on a wall in a doctor's office in Athens.  The hand sanitizer is replaced often by the doctor's office.
It is an example of public health because on average, 2-4 times a year, an adult will get the common cold. Colds can be transmitted by direct contact with infected germs. Hand sanitizer is a great option to use every day because it kills 99.99% of germs.
It was chosen as an example of public health because it is one of the most common ways to avoid getting sick. Many times, the common cold can be avoided by frequently washing hands to avoid contamination. When soap and water are not available, a good substitute is hand sanitizer. Many people pass the hand sanitizer without using it, but it is a good way to get rid of unwanted germs and stay healthy.
It is important for other to consider it public health because it is available for anyone to use and it stops the spread of infection. If everyone were to use hand sanitizer more often, the frequency of sicknesses like flu and the common cold would decrease dramatically.
