Report My Driving

This is a magnet on a service truck advertising how other people can report driving ability. This truck was parked on Prince Avenue. This magnet is an example of public health, because it allows peolple in the community to hold the driver accountable. Other drivers are able to call in and report dangerous driving. This keeps pedesstrians and other drivers safe. Car accidents are among the leading causes of death in the United States, so this magnet is a reminder to stay safe. Since this is a public service van, the passengers can be reassured that the operator of the vehicle is a responsible driver.
We chose this example of public health, because it is one of the more uncommon examples of public health. By calling this number, you could remove an unsafe driver from his current driving position. It is keeping people safe rather than just keeping the community clean and healthy. This is important for others to consider so that they are aware or can have some control over the safety of the roads.

  1. I think this is an interesting post because at first glance I would not have concidered this magnet to be an example of public health, which it is.
I think it important for people in a community to have the ablity to hold drivers accountable. I even wish all drivers were required to have a magnet like this one. Being able to report driving habits is a way to keep pedesstrians and other drivers safe, especially on campus! I think magnets like these are important because they ensure accountability.
However, I do not know how many people actually take these numbers into account and report dangerous driving habits of other drivers. It is comforting to know it is an option, but I do not know that people actually exercize it.
I thought this was an interesting blog because it presented an example that was out of the ordinary and different from a lot of the ones I have seen.
