Sanitize at the Pump: Blog Log #2

Describe what and where example is
This is a hand sanitizer at a gas station in Athens, GA.
Describe how your choice is an example of public health
This hand sanitizer is an example of public health because it helps stop the spread of germs and kills bacteria.
       Why you chose this example
We chose this example because we thought it was extremely helpful to have a hand sanitizer near the gas pump at a gas station. Hand sanitizers help kill germs and other bacteria that can make you sick. This useful placement of one helps remind people to make sure they are being healthy throughout the day.
Why it is important that others consider this an example of public health
It is important that others consider this an example of public health because it affects everyone, no matter what age or gender they are. Harmful germs and bacteria can spread quickly and most people don’t realize they are contaminating everyday public things such as doorknobs, water fountains, or even gas pumps. Many people think that germs are mostly located in bathrooms and think by washing their hands they will be fine, when in reality, germs are everywhere. This helpful placement of a hand sanitizer at a public gas station reminds people to always take care of themselves and protect them from harmful germs.
