The Omni Club: This Is Public Health

The Omni Club is a local fitness center in the heart of Athens, GA located off of West Broad Street. It is a is a place that offers a variety of services to the public such as group fitness, individual workout machines, athletic training, fight club, and boxing. The Omni Club is an impeccable example of public health since it promotes a healthy lifestyle daily. In fact, that is the whole point of the business. Exercise is one of the many aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle that helps prolong life and avoid disease. An individual, who chooses to work out at a gym such as Omni Club, typically has their other components of health and wellness in check. One good healthy choice leads to another.

I chose to focus on The Omni Club because it a place many college students overlook, even me! Most of the time, I tell myself I will exercise tomorrow or later and it never happens. It is the perfect example that incorporates what we cover in class, with nutrition and living healthy lifestyles, as well as one we can all relate to.  Sometimes college students fail to realize that exercising can help clear one’s head, lose weight, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase energy levels to push through daily activities. The fitness center works with individuals to find a workout plan that fits for both their budget and body.

It is important that we realize now, while we are still young, how important exercise is to one’s life: socially, physically, intellectually, and mentally. It does more than one could ever imagine both now and in the future and is all part of public health. If one just took a few days to exercise and eat right, they would be amazed at the benefits!
