TIPH: Community Bathrooms
This is a picture of one of the community bathrooms in Russell Hall at UGA. This is a perfect example of public health because this bathroom is shared by over twenty different people, and is their main bathroom to use for an entire year. What one person does in the bathroom or brings to the bathroom can have an effect on multiple people. I chose this example because this aspect of public health directly affects my friends and me. I use this bathroom daily and it can be pretty awful if other people on the hall don't treat it well. Others should consider this example because bathrooms in college are a very important place. The spread of anything from colds to staff infections can occur within these walls, and it is a very important part of public health to both physically keep them clean, as well as to educate dorm residents on the proper usage of these bathrooms.

I totally agree! I lived in Russell Hall last year and was very impressed with the display and upkeep of public health in the bathrooms. They were cleaned daily and maintained by the residents who used them, well at least the girls on my hall. They also always had posters that displayed the importance of hand-washing and flu season. Using community bathrooms is definitely an experience, that's for sure!
