TIPH Hand Sanitizer
My photo is of a hand sanitizer dispenser next to the trash chute in my building in Brookhaven, GA. This is an example of public health because it contains the components of health promotion and disease prevention. This sanitizer dispenser promotes health by encouraging those who have just disposed of their germ infested trash to clean their hands. This also helps to prevent the spread of disease by killing those germs that were just spread from the trash to the person disposing of it. I chose this example because it exemplified the pillars of public health in such an absolute manner. Hopefully cleaning one's hands will become commonplace in our society to help prevent the spread of disease and lead to a much healthier public community.

First off, I have to say I love that your iPad is showing the sticker. Haha. And that you had the trust that it would stay up there without falling.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I can't believe how often I see these hand sanitizing stations and wall areas now. It doesn't seem like there are many places without hand sanitizers now. I think part of it is this public health initiative, but it's probably the owners becoming more open to suggestions of change that should be made to their businesses or buildings (i.e. adding hand sanitziers).
I agree with Winston's statement that hand sanitizer is an issue of public health. I also think that it encourages more people to clean their hands since it is quicker and easier to use hand sanitizer than to wash one's hands in the sink. I would like to know if hand sanitizer is equally as effective for killing germs as washing hands with soap and water.
ReplyDeleteNice blog with the useful information.
