This is a picture of a water fountain in the Journalism Building on the 4th floor. One of the major components within the definition of public health is, "promoting health through the organized efforts and informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and individuals." I think water fountains are absolutely a community effort to promote health, as staying hydrated and drinking enough water plays a huge role in people's health. Water fountains on college campuses and throughout communities can play a major part in ensuring people get the recommended amount of water each day, which is essential to proper life functioning. People should be aware of the public health contribution water fountains make because there are many places around the world that do not have such free access to clean water. Water is essential to life and good health, so ample access to water fountains is a perfect example of public health efforts.

Kelsie has a great example of public health with the water fountain. Water is imperative to our survival so it is helpful that this building provides it as if it was just as necessary as a bathroom.
